Crafting Immersive Play Sessions

Wed Feb 12 2025

We’re leveling up how we do play sessions! Instead of our traditional, limited sessions, we’re shifting to a live model that will run continuously. However, from time to time, we will need to restart societies to implement significant changes into the game. This change allows us to iterate faster and improve SEED more rapidly than ever, setting the stage for how the game will unfold when it officially launches.

Operating as If the Game Is Live

With this shift to persistence, we’re approaching play sessions as though the game is already live. While the play session remains active, societies may occasionally start afresh to accommodate major updates and improvements. Because the session itself never truly ends, every action and event within these sessions carries a lasting impact. This setup lets us tackle bugs, test tweaks, and roll out changes based on feedback faster than ever—all in real time. By treating these sessions as ongoing gameplay, we’re creating a more authentic and engaging experience that reflects SEED’s future.

Rapid Iteration for Real-time Improvement

One of the driving forces behind this new approach is our commitment to prioritizing the most important feedback and tasks. By keeping the top of our backlog focused on the most impactful items, we aim to address player feedback and improvement opportunities quickly and effectively! Refining gameplay and features at an accelerated pace will keep the experience engaging and make sure players see their input directly shaping SEED’s evolution.

A Collaborative Experience

These persistent play sessions are about more than just testing features, they’re about building SEED with our community! Like always, we want to hear from our players throughout this process. We’re always eager to hear from our players, as their feedback is the driving force behind making SEED better and more fun to play. What’s even more exciting is that players will now get to see, in real time, how their input is considered and acted upon. While societies may reset periodically to support major updates, the collaborative experience remains at the heart of SEED’s development, allowing the game to evolve alongside the people who play it.

Preparing SEED for Its Future

As we continue these persistent play sessions, we’re not only improving SEED for its eventual launch, but we’re also preparing the game to become a living, breathing world that responds to the players who inhabit it. By prioritizing constant feedback, rapid iteration, and a persistent, always-on environment, we’re creating a game that grows with its community, getting ready to offer an exceptional experience when SEED officially launches.
